I have No Greater Joy

Greater joy comes from serving the Lord faithfully, teaching the flock well, and stay true to the word consistently. I have no greater joy

By Abraham Adeyemi

3 John 1:1-4
The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. (‭3 John‬ ‭1‬:‭1-4‬ KJV)

What does Apostle mean in this phrase, I have not greater joy? In this article, I will explain what it means to have a greater joy as a faithful servant of the Lord in his vineyard.

The desire of every God called preacher is for his children in the faith to be working in the truth, and it will bring a greater joy to his heart.

The Biblical Christianity

I remember one of my Bible college teachers who sent me a message through Facebook that, he is really impress with the work that The Lord is using me to do in Nigeria.

I am pretty sure that gives him joy in his heart that he has not labor in vain, even though I am not the only person he trained, he had trained many people but he found the joy in what I am doing for The Lord because He was my teacher.

I can relate my teacher with what Apostle John said about this brethren, I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are working in the truth.

First of all, John taught them the truth.

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6‬:‭6-9‬ KJV)

Because John was their spiritual father, he was responsible for the truth that they know. If you are going to have a greater joy, you must be responsible for the truth that people are hearing. Parents, are teaching your children the truth that they need to hear? Mothers, are the kids learning any truth of God’s word from you on daily basis?

One day, they will not always be with you, but the truth that you have taught them will continue to stay with them for the rest of their lives. But if you are lazy, and you are not fulfilling that God’s given responsibility, you are going to miss a great blessing that will come upon you.

I am sure that when Apostle John heard the report about this Christians, He was exceedingly glad in his heart.
why was he happy?
Because he was responsible for that truth that they posses. God used him to made the truth available to the people in that country.

Second, The people Lived The Truth

Not only did Apostle John Preached the truth, but some people among them accepted the truth, and make use of it for their Spiritual nourishment. It is one thing to preach the truth, and another thing for the people to live the truth that you are preaching to them.

I am a preacher I know how frustrating it is for a pastors to spend several hours praying and preaching to your people, and they are not experiencing the growth in their Christian walk, sometimes it makes you want to quit, but these people that John was commending lived the truth without eyes service.

Conclusion

Are you receiving enough truth in your church? If you are not getting the truth, you will need to move to place where you need to hear the truth.
If your pastor is not telling you the truth, you will not live the truth, that is just the bottom line.
