The Born Again Christian

In this article, I will be explaining how we can know that we are born again. It is possible to know that we are born of God, we belong to God.

It is difficult to break old superstitions, religious traditions, and doubt, but one can only receive Jesus Christ by faith, plus nothing, and minus nothing.

Multitudes think they are born again Christian because of their morality or religious lifestyle rather than trusting in Jesus.

Many sincere Christians have trusted in the work and person of Christ for salvation, but are not sure if they are really born of God.

Limited knowledge of the Bible causes doubt, fear, and insecurity. When we doubt, we should take inventory.

Four Tests Will Help You to Check Out if One is Born Again Christian

1. Check Your Fruit

Because of the new nature, the true believer will desire to control the flesh, and this is what we should do, and let me say this, it may not be instantaneously, but little by little as you yield to the Lord, you will be able to produce fruits to the glory of God.

The fruit checking should be the last on the list, but I intentionally put it on the first, because I want you to understand that I believe that a believer should do good works.

John 15:5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

2. Check God’s Chastening for your Carnal Sins

When Christians fail to control the flesh, God deals with them as a concerned father to a disobedient child; God disciplines His own. So that they will learn to live a holy life.

I believe strongly that God is lovely, and also is a jealous God, he will not want to share you with anyone, and that is why every sin believer commits grief at the heart of God.

Hebrews 12:6-8

Heb 12:6  For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Heb 12:7  If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Heb 12:8  But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

3. Check for the Presence of God’s Holy Spirit in your Life

1Corinthians 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Romans 8:14, 16

Rom 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Rom 8:15  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Rom 8:16  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

You become a member of God’s family immediately you put your faith in Christ, and that is why you need to appreciate Christ what purchasing you with his own blood.

4. Check the Word of God

Bible is full of the promises of God on how we can know that we are born again. The Book of John teaches us that, the purpose for which it was written is so that man may believe in Jesus, the Son of God, and that when you believe, you will have life through his name.

1 John 5:11-13

1Jn 5:10  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
1Jn 5:11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1Jn 5:12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
That You May Know
1Jn 5:13  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Conclusion

The phrase, “Born Again Christian” has been used wrongly by so many people who do not understand what it means to be born again.

I will continue this series, and in my next post, I will define what it means to be born again according to the Scripture
