“Apostle” Joshua Selman had the audacity to declare that John the Baptist died cheaply because he was out of the will of God for life. I want every follower of Joshua Selman to understand that it is a dangerous assumption for Joshua Selman to make that kind of statement.
In this video, which has been circulating online, it was said by Joshua Selman that John the Baptist got involved in something that did not concern him and therefore got himself killed.
First, Jesus Christ called John the Baptist great among those who are born of women.
This is the Saviour of the world. If there is something wrong with the death of John, then Christ would have mentioned it. But then someone who wanted to tickle the audience with his eloquent speech decided to denigrate John the Baptist.
Matthew 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Luke 7:28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
Second, the early apostles held John the Baptist in high esteem and never spoke ill of how he died.
He came to bear the testimony of the light, Jesus Christ, and he fulfilled his missions. Paul said this about the Baptism of John:
Acts 19:3-4 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
The early Christians were motivated by the boldness of John the Baptist.
John the Baptist didn’t die cheaply; many early Christians were motivated by the boldness of John to confront their oppressors and stand for what is right according to the Bible.
Selman’s wrong assumption about the ministry of John the Baptist is erroneous and wicked, and I believe that such a statement is not of God but sensual and devilish. I believe that such things happen whenever men want to speak extra-biblical.
God’s word has warned us of people who try to lure you into believing errors and things that are according to the Word of God, and we need to be very careful of such people.
