Does the Bible Teach that Once Saved Always Saved?

Introduction

Does the Bible Teach that Once Saved Always Saved? Yes, Bible teaches that you can only be saved once, and if you are saved, you are always saved. You cannot lose your salvation at all.

2 Timothy 1:12  For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Moreover, there are some people who believe that you can lose your salvation, if you walk away from it, abandon it, and backslide.

Eternal life is given the moment you believe in Christ, and you can find my full article on this subject about eternal security.

And also there is a booklet that will greatly help you understand this truth better.

Therefore, the eternal security of believers is the awareness of God’s guarantee that we are saved from the penalty of sin because of Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 1:13-14  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Can I Lose Salvation?

No, when you are saved, you are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise until the day of redemption, and you are also kept by the power of God.

1Peter 1:5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

People who believe in salvation lose will always come with Scripture they have taken out of context to prove their doctrine, but when those passages are studied contextually, you will come to an agreement that salvation is eternal.

Therefore, a child of God will always be a child of God, and salvation is eternal because of the sealing of the Holy Ghost that cannot be broken.

And also because of the power of God that cannot be weakened, and also because of the promise of God that cannot be changed.

Once Circumcised Always Circumcised

Colossians 2:11  In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Spiritual circumcision is one of the proofs that believers cannot lose salvation. Just like a physical circumcision cannot be done twice, therefore spiritual circumcision cannot be done twice.

Therefore, a child of God cannot lose the salvation that God wrought in Christ, and once you have received it by faith, it is free, and forever.

Salvation is not By WORKS

Man is saved by grace through faith, and not of works of man, therefore, once saved always saved is a biblical doctrine, and Bible affirms it.

If our works can save us, then when we do not do any works, we can then lose our salvation.

2Timothy 1:9  Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

But since we are not saved by works, then we cannot lose salvation by not doing any works.

Conclusion

Does the Bible teach that once saved always saved? Yes, and it is important that Christians accept that as part of the Gospel. Additionally, anyone that rejects this Biblical doctrine is not saved.
