God’s design for music also means God’s purpose for music, and it is important for God’s people to know and understand the reason for music so that they will not abuse it, or use it for the wrong purposes.
And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
God has opinions about everything we do, and the choices we make, and it is extremely important to make the right decision.
Do you enjoy music? Music is heard everywhere. It is in television, radio commercials, and entertainment.
You will find it in shopping malls, restaurants, and even barbing salons, and often used in those places to influence the decision-making of their customers or their buying habits.
Music can be heard in the movies especially if you love Indian movies, it is used to build suspense or create a light-hearted feeling.
Music is heard at weddings, funerals, sports events, and anywhere people gather. And music has been described as the universal language since people in every culture of the world sing, play, and enjoy music.
God created our atmosphere to be a medium in which sound can be conveyed to the ear of man. And that leads me to this question?
Where did music originate?
God is the originator and creator of music.
Colossians 1:16 KJV For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
God gave Lucifer the ability to produce music that was varied and complete. He had everything needed to write and perform songs for the glory of his Maker: Melody, harmony, and rhythm.
And also we can also see that man has been endowed with the gift of music also, and that is also found in the scripture. Music was sung or played to celebrate, worship, communicate, warn, praise, and encourage.
Why Did God Create Music? The God’s Design for Music
If God created the medium of music and gave the musical ability to first of all Lucifer, his most beautiful angel, and then to man, then for what purpose was it, or what is God’s design for music?
1. The first and foremost important purpose of music is to glorify the Lord.
Colossians 1:18 KJV And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
God wants the chief and all-important place in our lives. He deserves to be adored and revered above anything and everything. He is our Creator, our sustainer, our Savior, and our keeper.
Revelation 4:11 KJV Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
2. God created music for us to use to teach others about Him.
Colossians 3:16 KJV Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Three different kinds of songs can bring glory to Christ. They are psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.
Good songs convey a clear message that teaches truths concerning God and His word. Good doctrine must also be present if spiritual growth is desired. Do you listen to songs that teach you about Christ and then admonish you to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world?
3. Music was given to us through which to express joy.
Psalm 118:14-15 KJV The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.
Victory in your life? Answers to prayers? God’s blessings in your life?A new song? and not an old song? Many worldly pieces of music that you listen to are just so frustrating that many have died as a result.
The whole book of the psalm is dedicated to a song to express oneself. I believe that a Christian should enjoy Godly singing, and in fact, one of the pieces of evidence of being filled with the Spirit is that you sing. It is not about the voice or tone but about an expression of your joy to the Lord.
And you need to understand the effect that music has on you. Just like the people in this Bible understands the effect of music on people. Music is powerful unfortunately, we belittle its power.
1Sa 16:23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took a harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
Saul was REFRESHED- affected him physically—and was WELL- affected him emotionally–evil spirit departed—-affected him spiritually.
You need to understand that music has a powerful influence on people that they would never admit. If certain music can be used to drive away evil spirits, is it not safe to assume that there is a kind of music that can summon them?
