Bible Verses on Forgiveness in the Bible
Psalms 130:4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
In the previous verse, “If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?”
Therefore forgiveness in the Bible has to deal with pardon to the offender, and we have sinned against God. But instead, he forgives us.
Only God offers true forgiveness, and it can only be received through Christ alone.
Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
The sin of blasphemy was committed against Christ because he was accused of using dark powers to cast out devils.
But today, no one commits this kind of sin today, because the only sin that has no forgiveness is unbelief.
Acts 5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Everyone needs forgiveness, and the only person that can offer this is the Savior, and he is Christ.
When Christ came, he was rejected by the nation of Israel as their Messiah.
But little did they know that they have rejected the only true source of forgiveness.
Acts 13:38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
And, Christ is the man that offers humanity the way out of the mess that is in the world.
He offers true forgiveness through his sacrifice on the Cross.
Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
And, here we see that redemption comes before forgiveness of sins.
A Man is delivered by the payment of Christ, and it is only through the blood of Christ that man is saved.
Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Therefore, the passage is so powerful that it looks similar to Ephesians 1:7, and it gives great meaning to what the Bible teaches on forgiveness.
